Account privacy notice

BrainNet Consulting Inc. operates this free learning resource. Account registration collects your name, email, institution, professional role, country, region and city. Street address and postal code are optional.

Why we collect data

We use profile data to operate your account, save practice progress, provide personal progress records and improve this resource using saved practice activity and aggregate usage analysis. This does not authorize unrelated tracking or commercial sale. Feedback is visible to authorized site administrators. We do not display your profile publicly or sell profile data.

Authorized administrators may export profile, practice and survey records for internal service administration. Research exports omit names, emails, locations and free-text comments, but are not guaranteed anonymous. Registration does not consent to commercial sharing or sale. Any such new use requires a separate privacy assessment and meaningful, optional consent. Administrator changes and exports are recorded in a restricted audit log.

Storage and control

Promotional email is optional and off by default. If you opt in, BrainNet Consulting Inc. may use your name and email for promotional materials about SimCert and its healthcare simulation services. You can withdraw under My profile without losing access. Registration records the notice version, time and your choice; later changes are logged. Existing accounts and manually created accounts are not automatically opted in. No promotional email service is enabled by this preference alone.

Promotional consent does not authorize publishing your name, photo, testimonial or identifiable study results, selling your profile, or disclosing it to advertising partners. Those uses require a separate assessment and specific permission.

If you export a progress package for an LMS, you choose to share that snapshot with the platform where you upload it. Your display name is excluded unless you select it. Email, address, photo, passwords and session information are never included. The receiving platform has its own privacy and retention rules.

The improvement survey records study goals, features used, ratings, problems and improvement priorities. Optional follow-up permission lets us contact your account email about that feedback only, not for marketing. Earlier feedback remains stored in its original format.

You may choose an initials avatar or upload an optional profile photo. Profile photos are visible only to you and authorized administrators, and image metadata is removed. Administrators may create accounts with authorization and edit profiles. Removed accounts are deactivated and signed out, not permanently erased; their records remain available for restoration. Contact us for permanent deletion requests.

To limit account abuse, we use temporary hashed client-IP and account-attempt counters. These expire after 15 minutes and are removed during subsequent requests.

Your account and practice records are stored in the site's server-side database. Session cookies keep you signed in. Browser storage may retain practice drafts and flashcard marks; use your own device and sign out on shared computers.

Account data is retained while your account is active. Request access, correction or deletion through the contact page at SimAdvice.com. Backups may retain deleted records until their configured retention expires.

Do not submit patient information, medical records or other sensitive personal information. This service provides educational practice, not clinical advice or official certification.
