FAQ

Questions people ask before they start.

The exams

What do CHSOS and CHSE stand for?

CHSOS is the Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist. CHSE is the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator. Both are certifications from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH).

CHSOS is for people who run simulation technology, manikins, A/V, and center operations. CHSE is for people who design, facilitate, and debrief simulation. Not sure which fits you? Read CHSOS vs CHSE.

Are these real exam questions?

No. Every question is original and written to the 2024 SSH blueprints. SimCert contains no actual, recalled, or live exam questions.

Is SimCert affiliated with SSH?

No. SimCert is an independent study resource. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.

Access and cost

How long do I get access?

During early access, every account gets full access at no cost.

The first 200 accounts are numbered early adopters and keep full access if paid plans start later. Your account page shows your number. Your progress stays in your account until you delete it.

Do you offer reduced pricing for low- and middle-income countries?

Yes. When paid plans start, learners and simulation programs based in low- and middle-income countries, as listed by the World Bank, will get reduced pricing. Programs that want group access can contact us now.

Can my simulation program or school sign up a group?

Yes. We can create accounts for a whole cohort and send each person an invite link. Contact us to set up a group.

Studying

What happens if I do not pass the exam?

Your account, progress, missed questions, and domain scores stay. Use your domain scores to find weak areas, drill those domains, retry missed questions, and take full timed exams again.

SSH sets the retake rules, so check the current SSH candidate handbook for waiting periods and fees. SimCert supports your study but cannot guarantee a passing score.

How are the questions written and checked?

Each question maps to a 2024 blueprint domain and explains why the best answer is right and why the others fall short. New questions get an independent check, edits wait for a reviewer, and learners can report a problem on any question. Details are on the About page.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. SimCert works in any modern browser on phones, tablets, and computers. There is nothing to install.

Do I get a certificate?

After 20 or more answered questions you can download a practice certificate with your totals and domain results. It records study activity only. It is not an SSH credential or continuing-education credit.

About SimCert

Why was SimCert created?

Ferooz Sekandarpoor built SimCert because simulation technicians and educators preparing for CHSOS and CHSE had few practice tools written by people who run simulation programs every day. He has more than 20 years in simulation technology, center design, and education. Read his bio or connect on LinkedIn.

What do you do with my data?

Your answers score your practice and, without your name, help improve questions. Sponsors only ever see anonymous totals for groups of 20 or more. You can download or delete your data from your account page. See the privacy notice.

What learners say
